Silicon Valley can be a lonely place to build a life. You can work hard, live near thousands of people, and still have no one to call. UAMEZ is a church family where nobody has to do life alone.

You don’t need to know anyone. We’ll help you find your way.
Worship, 10:00 to 11:30.
Music, prayer, and a message for real life. Sunday worship starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 11:30 AM.
Stay for a conversation.
Meet people in the courtyard afterward. Ready for more? Next Steps meets 15 minutes after service for about 30 minutes in the Fireside Room beside the sanctuary.

Amazing Kids
Kindergarten through 6th grade, during worship. Check-in opens at 9:45 AM.
Gen Z and young adults
Young adults lead and serve throughout the church. You'll meet many on Sunday. A young-adult group also meets Wednesdays at 7:30 PM.
Small groups
People who learn your name, pray with you, and share life beyond Sunday.

What should I wear?
Whatever makes you comfortable. Some people wear a suit and some wear jeans. Both are welcome.
Can I bring my baby or toddler?
Yes. Babies and toddlers stay with you; we don’t have a staffed nursery. The Little House across the courtyard has the service on a screen and a changing table. You stay with your child there.
What if I am not sure what I believe?
You’re welcome. Some people grew up in church, some are coming back, and some have never been. You don’t have to have it figured out to come.
Is the church accessible?
The lot, courtyard, and sanctuary entrance are flat, with no steps on the way in. Seating for wheelchairs and walkers is at the front. Call (650) 272-6742 to discuss what you need before Sunday.

Here since 1918
UAMEZ is a historically Black, multicultural church in the A.M.E. Zion tradition, long called the Freedom Church. Our home on Middlefield Road was built in 1965.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation gave UAMEZ $400,000 through its Preserving Black Churches program, one of 33 churches in the February 2026 round. It's restoring our Middlefield Road home for the next generation.
See what's comingWhat does UAMEZ stand for? UAMEZ Church (University African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church). We are part of the A.M.E. Zion tradition, founded by Black Americans in 1796.
